How to Identify Fake Job Offers

Fake job offers are increasing day by day. Many end aspirants become victims of Fake calls. So, in this post let me tell you how to identify fake job calls and fraudulent companies.

Ramesh, a B.tech Graduate from Bangalore, got a job call from a company. He was interviewed over phone and received offer letter from the same. The company also offered good pay and perks in that offer letter. But, before Joining he was asked to deposit some amount for background verification checks and travel expenses.  Not only Ramesh, many would have faced this situation. There are many fake groups which always try to trap unemployed youth. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell the difference between fake call and genuine.

Here are some tips to identify Fake Job Offers:

1. Fake Companies or Scammers approach you over phone or mail. They say that they found your resume online. or we got your resume from Naukri.com or some other job sites.
   They offer job right away or say they want to interview you.
2. Generally, Scammers offers high pay to a job than the market.
3. Fake companies or person sends E-mails from general free email accounts (gmail, yahoo,etc ) that too in an unprofessional manner. Whereas, real companies follows certain format. If the email contains spelling mistakes or grammar mistakes, punctuation errors, no doubt that is a fake.
4. Scammers uses online interviews as main weapon to trap unemployed youth. They suggests to appear online interview through Yahoo messenger, Skype, etc and after a simple interview they offer job.
5. If the Emails doesn’t have any contact information or sent from a personal account, Suspect them. That could be a fake one or if the Email doesn’t include the company’s address and phone. No doubt its a scam. If the interviewer makes and excuse from using a personal email address by saying the Companies servers are down or the company is experiencing too many problems with spam or the company hasn’t yet set up it’s email system then check the truthfulness of that place. Do a google search on the company.
6. Work from home or lesser working hours. If this appears in the job title, the chances are very high that it is a scam. Don’t go into trap, suspect them and make proper study before committing to work with.
7. Make a hobby of reading newspapers or following news so that you can be aware of fraudulent companies.

1. Strictly, No to money!: Never pay money to any type of job offers. Remember this, no company would ask the job seeker to pay money as an advance to give a person a job.

2. No trace in the market or Internet, then rethink: Try to do some research on the company. If there is no website, be cautious about the company.

3. Suspect free email accounts: In the present scenario, all the companies will have a corporate email account. If any company approaches you with free email accounts like yahoo, gmail, live or hotmail it is likely to be a fake company.

4. Cross verify the details with google search: Once after receiving details from the recruiter, do complete research on the Internet to know about the company. Try to cross check the details provided to you with the details in the Internet.

5. Always check scam lists: Make sure you cross verify the name of company with organizations like ‘Better Business Bureau’ and the ‘Federal Trade Commission’ to see if the organization has been fake recruiters.

6. No offer letters without interviews: No organization would recruit an employee without an interview. You might receive an email stating that your resume is very well qualified for the vacancy and hence, they wish to hire you. This kind of emails is undoubtedly a fake job offer.

7. No work from home for a full time seeker: Never trust those kind of offers sent to you through emails. As it looks so easy to work and relaxing, people easily fell for these types of scams.

8. Random job offers: Getting random job offers which you have not applied for, can never be true.

9. Huge pay scale sounds good but can be fake: Always think twice when you are offered pay which is more for your experience. If it is beyond expectation, think twice because money is not that cheap in the world.

10. Never share your confidential information: Nobody would look out to know about your credit card credentials, or your debit card details for approving your job offers. Never consider such type of fake offers as it is purely a scam.

11. Take a deep look at the grammatical errors: Corporate people will mostly never make grammatical errors.

12. Cross verify URL’s: Fake URL’s are very common mistake found in scam recruiting websites. Cross verify the URL whether it is true or fake.
